Project Number: A009(815)

Key Number: 09815

The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) will design and construct a new I-84 interchange at Ten Mile Road in Meridian. The project will relieve congestion at the existing I-84 Meridian Road Interchange and improve access to the growing area west of Meridian Road.

Description

This project will result in a new interchange with on- and off-ramps at Ten Mile Road, and several improvements to the surrounding roadways. Improvements include:

  • Building a new intersection on Ten Mile south of Franklin Road.
  • Extending Tasa Drive to Overland Road with an underpass at Ten Mile Road.
  • Widening Ten Mile Road from two to four lanes within the project area.

Background

ITD and the Community Planning Association of Southwest Idaho identified Ten Mile Road as a future location for an interchange in the 2001 I-84 Corridor Study. The study recommended increasing interstate access between Caldwell and Meridian.

The Ten Mile Interchange project is one of several improvements planned along the I-84 corridor through the GARVEE Transportation Program.

Schedule and Funding

A groundbreaking ceremony for this project was held June 23, 2009. Construction is expected to begin in July 2009 and end in early 2011.

The project is funded by the GARVEE Transportation Program, which uses Grant Anticipation Revenue Vehicle (GARVEE) bonds to expedite interstate improvements.
